19.10.2010 - 19.10.2010
So the big talent show that the staff has been practicing for the past two months was today. It was truly an event! Strob lights, smoke machines, sparks, camera crew, staging, lighting, etc. I am so happy I was able to attend because it was cool seeing my coworkers show off their skills. Most people did hospitality based talent like bartending and flower arranging but others danced, sang, modeled, performed magic shows and even painted, sewed or ice sculpted. It was so different than a talent show back at home where people just sing, dance or recite a poem. Some of them were really creative.
The show was divided by departments so Housekeeping performed for about 15 minutes their little segments and then Concierge and so on.
Jared, Kyle and I were not in the show but Melissa, Elizabeth and Blair sang Michael Jackson's "We Are the World" with some guys from Reception. Originally I was supposed to partner with Reception in a belly dancing routine but that was canceled for whatever reason. Jared and I did our part in the audience they hooting and hollering. It was really fun. I felt like a proud parent watching all my children work it the best they could on stage.
Ah... good times.
Here is a list of some cool talents that we saw today
- Solving a Rubik's Cube in 30 seconds
- Karate (6 girls breaking wood= very cool)
- Cake design (Jinling Hotel and the World Trade Center)
- Making tea
